Khe Vằn waterfall: scenery or Soóng Cọ singing?
Check access and weather for a waterfall visit. To hear Soóng Cọ, confirm a separate programme; do not assume daily performances.

Plan two things separately when visiting Khe Vằn waterfall: choose a sightseeing day according to access and weather, and choose a day for Soóng Cọ according to a confirmed programme. A past festival does not guarantee a performance on your visit.
Three waterfall levels, not three compulsory stages
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism describes Khe Vằn in the Bình Liêu area as having three levels with different shapes; the second divides into a larger and a smaller stream. Flow changes with the seasons, with more water in the rainy season and gentler flow in the dry season.
This describes the landscape, not a route for climbing every level or an assurance that entering the water is safe. Ask management which sections are open, who the walking route suits, and what restrictions apply that day. Choose a comfortable stopping point rather than trying to complete all three levels.

The May 2026 festival has already taken place
According to Báo Quảng Ninh on 2 May 2026, the 2026 Soóng Cọ festival opened that evening at Khe Vằn waterfall ecotourism area, with activities continuing through 3 May. This was a past event, not a daily performance schedule.
Soóng Cọ is a form of singing and courtship singing of the Sán Chỉ people, connected with community and spiritual life. If hearing it is your main purpose, confirm the date, time, place and programme format before booking. A description mentioning Soóng Cọ culture does not establish that artists will perform that day.

Use information for your actual travel date
- Confirm that visitors are being received and which access route is open.
- Ask about realistic walking times for children or people with limited mobility; prepare suitable shoes, drinking water and rain protection.
- For singing, request a specific programme and ask whether booking is required. Do not rely on a poster for an event that has ended.
Sources were checked on 24 October 2026; performances and visiting conditions for a future date are not confirmed. For a Bình Liêu itinerary, see the silvergrass season guide, and recheck seasonal conditions close to departure.
